Okay, so I haven’t written since the beginning of April. In
case you’re wondering whether I’m dead and this is my creepy glittery pink
ghost who’s come back to write in my blog of all things actually worth
haunting, no. Not exactly.
I’ll try to keep a handful of very long stories as short as
I can:
Kevin and I broke up (unofficially: a couple days after my
last blog post – officially: the beginning of May). Cue the Taylor Swift song that everyone hates and, yes, I love. Listen-to-it-on-repeat-for-days
kind of love. Because it was the first thing to help me stop crying all day, every day, and every night.
(Yes, two pictures were necessary.)
I was in the hospital for ten days. And I’m doing very well and getting healthier every day.
I’m going through some things I’m still trying to learn how
to cope with. Perhaps at the forefront of these things would be that three of
my friends passed away within the span of two or three weeks. Two of them took
their own lives. This experience re-opens old wounds and, of course, has made
new ones. It’s still raw, still visceral, and I know from experience that it
will take a very long time for these wounds begin to heal.
On the happier side of things, I’m SO excited to announce
that my father turned eighty-one earlier this month; the mark of another year
of the kind of love that only a dad can give his daughter.
I’m slowly learning how to be myself again, and how to be
okay with that – even happy with that.
At work, I got promoted a giant leap from Peer Review
Assistant to Editorial Associate. Most people who don’t work in this industry
still don’t really get what I do, but at least my new title sounds more official or
something. I think.
And on the weirder side of things, I’ve absolutely lost my mind and gone from one polar extreme to the opposite. Okay, that’s not entirely true – I’ve always been a little bit
of both. City girl. Country girl. But now it’s actually getting scary. I proudly own my first (and yes,
I say “my first”) pair of gorgeous, leather cowboy boots.
(Don’t worry; I own two of them.)
I listen to Tim McGraw. (Well, and a lot of other country music
artists, too.) There’s photographic proof of me dancing around in said boots to
said genre of music. Which I will not be posting here.
Maybe I can chalk it up to one of those drastic life changes
so many women make in their lives after a horrendous break-up. Since I’d
already cut my hair (my standard go-to) just a couple days before it all happened, and because I love my natural color too much to get even a few fake, bleached highlights, I guess I had to resort
to something else. Who knows.
Probably less weird: at the insistence of the love of my
life, Marlena, I finally made a Tumblr account. Little did I know what I was
getting into. I’ve all but forgotten about Pinterest at this point. And I was
an avid Pinterester. So, if you’re ever so bored you think you just might die: http://pinkperkypill.tumblr.com/
(It’s getting too embarrassing to have to put ‘pinkpearlygirly’
as my username for everything…pinkperkypill will do just fine.)
So, even though I know I’m most likely leaving out some other important
things in here I should really include (never mind a million little things), I think that sums up most of the past few months.
L’shanah tovah
(Doesn’t this contradict the whole I’ve-turned-into-a-crazy-cowgirl thing? Oops…)
xoxo,
Elizabeth Alida

I'm really into the ghost thing. That chick with the pills tho is freaking me out in the way that "Black Hole Sun" can only be watched completely sober and even then is a really horrifying and emotional experience like going through a touch tunnel with a finite end except while you're in the tunnel it feels like time is subject to the tunnel and that is how I feel about the melty faces in that video. I love you.
ReplyDeleteI love you, too. :)
