So I totally suck for not updating
my blog in, oh, forever. To sum up the past couple of months, well, I have to write about New York City with
Kev. I wish I could describe it better, because it was more than amazing. But I
don’t know a word/term for that. Super
amazing? Whatever. The hotel, the Gansevoort Park, was RIDICULOUS and the most
luxurious and beautiful hotel ever in the history of the world. At least, as
far back as hotels go in history. From the wonderful facial I got in their spa
to the awesome champagne bar on one side of the hotel to the pink curtains to
um, everything, it was pure bliss. Although I was probably most excited about
the remote-controlled iPod player – totally satisfied my ADD and control freak
tendencies. Oh, and we got to have dinner with one of my sorority sisters,
Lauren, at the ultra trendy restaurant on the other side of the hotel. Which
made me super happy because I totally adore her.
Said remote-controlled iPod player and me looking like a crackhead who just scored
Me and Lauren
“Phantom of
the Opera” was completely and utterly enthralling. And not just because Kevin
and I got to sip overpriced Black Russians out of spill-proof cups in the
theater. The singing, the dancing, the chandelier thing (you know what I’m
talking about if you’ve seen it), oh my! Oh, and the candelabras rising out of
the stage was awesome, too. As Kevin predicted, I was a sobbing mess at the end
and he basically had to mop me off the floor (his words, not mine) to get me
out of the theater.
Going back
to the remote-controlled iPod player, Kevin – kind, considerate, wonderful
Kevin – bought me one for Hanukkah, because he knew how obsessed with it I was.
I totally didn’t expect to be showered in gifts after he’d spent a fortune on
our NYC mini vacation, but of course, in typical Kevin fashion, he did. Of
course, I did my best to do the same in return. Probably the best gift I got
him:
(Memories canvas)
However,
nothing compares to the slew of insane (-ly thoughtful but still pretty
ridiculous) of gifts I got him for Valentine’s Day. I won’t go into any detail
because basically all of them were inside jokes that don’t make sense to anyone
else, but I truly outdid myself. He, of course, upstaged me anyway. He sent a
dozen long-stemmed roses and a big, fluffy teddy bear to my office and then,
when I got off at 5:00, he swept me away to the Four Seasons in Georgetown for
an incredibly romantic evening, which spilled over into the next day. I caused
quite the commotion in my office when I emerged from the restroom in a one-shouldered
red evening gown, which was incredibly embarrassing. I literally got a standing
ovation (complete with cheers and clapping) before I yelled, “IT’S BUSINESS
ATTIRE! GO BACK TO WORK!” My cheeks probably matched the color of my dress.
Whatever, it was worth it to see the look on Kev’s face.
I can’t
wait to see what we do for our third anniversary (February 27) this weekend!
xoxo,
Elizabeth Alida
