Well, whoops…I haven’t posted anything on here in, um, a while. I suppose I have a couple excuses:
a) Not much has really been going on (with the exception of ‘b’) – at least, nothing remarkable
a. Amendment: I finally cleaned my room…which, if you don’t know me, means I deserve an Olympic medal. This is a truly remarkable thing.
b) Janeen came down to visit for a few days over Memorial Day weekend, and I was preoccupied with my unending love for her and our fabulous, whirlwind adventures, involving such activities as staying at the Four Seasons in Georgetown with Kevin and going to high tea at the Mayflower Hotel. Also, I proposed to her. We’re official on Facebook. So, it’s official.
a) Subsequently, I got sick with a terrible ear, nose, and throat infection, and – I swear on Chanel – I honest-to-God believe I may have contracted the world’s mildest but still most annoying case of conjunctivitis (sorry if that’s TMI…)
b) Et al
Plus, I’ve been working hard on my first blog post for the Alpha Phi alumnae perspective blog. I finally turned in my draft this morning. It’s about...oh. Right. What I appear to always talk about: my evil ex-supervisor and how to recognize and deal with…let’s call them ‘hostile work environments.’ There. I’ll put it nicely. Instead of calling them what [mine] actually was, which was a cesspool hellhole of corruption, greed, and ludicrous hypocrisy. Oops. That probably wasn’t such a nice thing to say. Well, neither was EVERYTHING in my cruel joke of an annual performance review…among other things.
Anyway, as far as awesome work environments go, we just had Staff Appreciation Week, which was nothing short of AMAZING. My photo of fireworks got fourth place in the staff photo competition.
I got a delightful massage with aromatherapy. And to top it all off, we all went to CulinAerie and split ourselves up into teams (so that there were about three rows of kitchen stations full of my friends/colleagues carousing with one another). We made…I don’t even remember (there was an open wine and beer bar – did I mention how AMAZING Staff Appreciation Week is?!). Anyway, it was some incredible asparagus salad appetizer, chicken entrée thing, and raspberry crème brulée for dessert. OH, and we all got $50.00. For, you know, being awesome. I rather enjoy being surprised with money.
All in all, just your average, day-to-day stuff. Becoming engaged to a beautiful woman (who also technically happens to be my sister. Sorority sister, that is). High tea (including tea gloves). Gettin’ that paper.
Not gonna lie. May was pretty legit.
Oh. AND I used the term, ‘onus probandi,’ in a sentence in an email I sent to a colleague.
